What is Prenatal Yoga?

Prenatal yoga is a series of yoga poses and stretches for pregnant mothers to be. The practice is completely safe when carried out by a certified coach and can not only help relieve the discomfort during pregnancy, but also prepare your body for the upcoming labor of giving birth.

A mother of two children herself, Eliana is passionate about sharing the knowledge she has gained from her two pregnancies, births, recoveries, and breastfeeding journeys. She loves empowering women to trust their own intuition to grow as strong, confident mothers.

When to start prenatal yoga

You should consult with your care provider for when it is safe to start. Many will say it is safe to start from early in your pregnancy, especially if you had an established practice already, but your care provider is best qualified to make recommendations based upon your history and current pregnancy. 

Whilst yoga can really help with the discomfort of pregnancy, it is always important to listen to your body and start prenatal yoga at a time that feels right for you. It should be a positive experience, not one which causes you to feel stressed to attend or uncomfortable to perform.

How is prenatal yoga different?

Prenatal yoga is about building the physical and mental strength for what lies ahead, as opposed to pushing your body to it’s limits. There are certain moves that can cause complications if performed during pregnancy, therefore, carrying out prenatal yoga with a trained professional can ensure the safety of both you and your baby.
